Police night operation: 10 detained and more than 150 traffic violations

The Cyprus Police summed up another night operation aimed at public safety and traffic enforcement. During raids across the country, ten people were detained on various charges, including illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, burglary and theft.

Law enforcement officers paid special attention to road checks. Overnight, police officers stopped 312 vehicles for inspection and checked 430 drivers and passengers. As a result, 152 traffic violations were recorded, 61 of which were related to speeding.

In addition, one driver was detained for driving under the influence of alcohol, and another was found to be behind the wheel under the influence of drugs. As part of the operation, police carried out 77 breathalyzer tests and three preliminary drug tests.

Two vehicles were also seized during the investigations and inspections.

In addition to traffic enforcement, police carried out 31 inspections of various premises. Following the inspections, two reports on identified violations were drawn up.

The police stressed that such preventive operations are carried out on an ongoing basis and are aimed at preventing crime, improving road safety and maintaining public order. Law enforcement officers called on citizens to comply with the law and traffic rules in order to avoid dangerous situations and administrative liability.
