New Cyprus University dormitories will be adorned with contemporary art
The new student residential complex for the University of Cyprus, designed for 700 rooms, is planned to be decorated with large-scale art objects. To that end, the Ministry of Education and Culture held a special competition among artists to select the best projects for integration into the buildings' architecture.
The competition jury has already chosen the winners, whose works will appear on campus. A total budget of €260,000 has been allocated for the creation and installation of sculptures and installations. The initiative is being implemented under a state law that requires at least 1% of the cost of constructing any public building to be spent on its artistic decoration.
