Drug Enforcement Operation: Three Arrested, 150 Grams of Methamphetamine Seized

Cyprus Police conducted a large-scale operation against a group suspected of distributing crystal methamphetamine. As a result, three people aged 50, 42 and 29 were arrested.

The operation was carried out by officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (ΥΚΑΝ) in the districts of Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca. During the investigation, approximately 150 grams of methamphetamine, as well as other material evidence, were seized.

According to police, on 21 July, officers of the ΥΚΑΝ received information about possible drug dealing and began monitoring the suspects.

A 50-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman were spotted in a car on the road towards Paphos. They later stopped in the area of one of the villages in Paphos, where a 29-year-old man approached them in another car.

After an exchange of items, police stopped the car carrying the 50-year-old man and woman in the Limassol area. During the inspection, four packets containing a crystalline substance — methamphetamine weighing approximately 145 grams in total — as well as a pipe bearing traces of drug use, were found in the vehicle.

Both suspects were arrested, and the Limassol court ordered that they be remanded in custody for seven days.

The 29-year-old man initially fled, but was later arrested by police in the Paphos area. During a search of his car, approximately 5 more grams of methamphetamine were found. The court ordered that he be remanded in custody for five days.

Police are investigating cases of conspiracy to commit a crime, unlawful possession of drugs, possession of drugs with intent to supply, drug trafficking, unlawful drug use and the laundering of proceeds from criminal activity.
