Father of three-year-old child who died released on bail

The Paphos District Court released under strict conditions a 37-year-old man accused of causing death by negligence following the death of his three-year-old child.

The next court hearing is scheduled for 31 July. Until then, the accused will remain at liberty subject to a number of conditions: posting bail of €20,000, a ban on leaving the island, surrendering all travel documents, reporting weekly to the Paphos police, a ban on crossing checkpoints and mandatory notification to the police of his place of residence.

According to reports, the Attorney General of the Republic of Cyprus authorised the criminal prosecution after reviewing the investigation file.

According to the investigation, alcohol was detected in the accused's blood. This fact will be considered by the court during the proceedings.
