Paphos to showcase dogs that have spent years waiting for owners in shelters on September 26

On September 26, Paphos will host the Long Stay Legends Dog Show 2026, showcasing dogs that have spent the longest time in Cypriot shelters and have still not found owners. The event is organised by the AIRS Foundation.

The venue is located in the village of Emba near Paphos, on Ayíou-Stefánou Street, behind My German Doener restaurant. The event will run from 11:00 to 17:00, and admission is free.

Shelters from across Cyprus will bring the animals in their care: visitors will be able to meet the dogs in person and discuss how to take an animal home. The aim of the show is “to give these dogs the attention they deserve and introduce them to people in the hope that they will find a home,” the organisers explain.

The foundation describes the show itself as a celebration of the animals’ “character, resilience and individuality”. In addition to the dogs, the venue will feature stalls selling handmade products and food stands, with participants including My German Doener, Schnitzelhaus Stroumpi and The Butschers Bakehouse.

Admission is free, with the organisers aiming to attract as many visitors as possible and promote the idea of responsible animal adoption in Cyprus. The foundation has published further details on its website.
