Paphos police seize speakers, pyrotechnics and nitrous oxide canisters from nightclub

Paphos police searched a nightclub on Agiou Antoniou Street (Agiou Antoniou): under a court order, they seized sound equipment allegedly used for the public playback of music without permission. The operation took place on Tuesday evening.

Seven speakers, a system unit, a mixer and a sound console were removed from the club. In addition to the equipment, police found and confiscated five pyrotechnic devices, seven canisters of nitrous oxide — commonly known as laughing gas — and four packs containing 100 balloons each.

According to preliminary information, tobacco products were also being sold at the venue without the required licence.

The investigation is being conducted by Paphos Central Police Station. Public playback of recorded music at a venue requires a separate permit — it was the absence of this permit that led police to obtain a court warrant to search the premises.
