Cyprus Police Increase Road Checks to Enforce Speed Limits
Starting Monday, the police in the Republic of Cyprus are stepping up their efforts to enforce traffic laws, with a particular focus on speeding.
Over the course of the week—from Monday to Sunday—large-scale operations will be conducted nationwide. These enhanced checks are being carried out in collaboration with the European road policing network, Roadpol.
The aim of this initiative is to prevent serious and fatal road accidents.
"Speeding is one of the key factors influencing the severity of accidents and is a major cause of both serious and fatal crashes," the police emphasized.
Between 2021 and 2023, speeding violations were the second leading cause of road fatalities, accounting for 12.6% of all cases.
