Cyprus police detain eight people overnight and issue 295 fines
Cyprus police carried out large-scale overnight raids across all districts of the island. Reinforced patrols and targeted checks were organized to prevent crime and maintain public order.
During the operations, eight people were detained on suspicion of committing various offences, including theft by an employee, illegal stay in the country, carrying a knife, unlawful possession of drugs, and assaulting a police officer.
Particular attention was paid to traffic law compliance. Within a few hours, police officers issued 295 fines, 83 of them for speeding.
A total of 629 drivers and 131 passengers were checked. Police also conducted 95 alcohol tests, as a result of which three drivers were prosecuted for driving under the influence.
In addition, police are investigating six cases related to traffic offences. Four vehicles were impounded during the checks.
Law enforcement officers also inspected 44 premises, resulting in six more administrative violations being identified.
