Popular sea caves in Cyprus may become inaccessible to tourists
Cyprus authorities are restricting access to the famous sea caves of Cape Greco near Ayia Napa. The reason is the risk of rock collapses and the increasing number of accidents among visitors. Temporary barriers have already been installed in the area, and access to some sections has been restricted.
According to the authorities, the rock formations in the cave area are gradually deteriorating due to erosion, posing a threat to tourists and rescue services. Incidents involving injuries have already occurred in this area before.
For now, this is not about a full closure of the natural landmark, but rather about restricting access to the most dangerous zones. Tourists will still be able to visit the viewing platforms and other safe areas of the park.
