U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus to Temporarily Lead Embassy in Kyiv

U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have appointed Julie Davis, the U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus, as the interim chargé d’affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv.

According to an official statement on the embassy’s website, Davis will serve as the acting head of the mission until the White House names and confirms a new ambassador to Ukraine.

She is set to take up her new post on May 5. Prior to her ambassadorship in Cyprus, Davis also served as the U.S. Special Envoy for Belarus.

The U.S. State Department previously confirmed that Ambassador Bridget Brink, appointed by the former administration, is stepping down from her position in Kyiv.

The Cypriot government welcomed the news, viewing Davis’s temporary reassignment as an opportunity to further deepen strategic ties between Cyprus and the United States.

Davis is expected to arrive in Kyiv early next week. While serving in Ukraine, she will continue to oversee U.S. diplomatic affairs in Cyprus.

She is expected to return to her role in Nicosia once a new ambassador to Ukraine has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
