Fire in an abandoned house in Limassol threatened nearby buildings
Limassol fire crews quickly extinguished a blaze in an abandoned house in the city center, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby residential buildings.
According to the Fire Service, the alert came from the area of Heroes Square. The fire broke out in an old abandoned building, inside which there were large accumulations of rubbish and various waste.
Three fire engines were dispatched to the scene. To fight the fire, rescuers used hoses and breathing apparatus, as thick smoke made work inside the building difficult.
Particular attention was given to protecting the neighboring houses adjacent to the burning building. Thanks to the rapid response, the flames were prevented from spreading to nearby structures and more serious consequences were avoided.
The fire was brought under control and fully extinguished shortly afterward. No reports of injuries were received.
The cause of the blaze is currently being investigated. The circumstances of the incident are being examined by the Fire Service together with the police.
