Cyprus President Announces Partial Government Reshuffle

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides has announced a partial government reshuffle. The changes affect four ministers and three heads of state institutions.

Evantia Tsolaki will head the Ministry of Transport, replacing Alexis Vafiadis.

Christos Senekis has been appointed the new Minister of Agriculture. He will replace Maria Panayotu, who previously announced that she was returning to work as a teacher at a public secondary school.

Tina Pavlou — director of the Ayia Skepi rehabilitation centre and a former parliamentary candidate for the DISY party — will become Deputy Minister of Social Welfare. She will replace Klea Hajistefanu-Papaellinou, who has been appointed Deputy Minister of Culture, replacing Vasiliki Kassianidou.

The president also announced the appointment of three commissioners:
— Elias Myriantos has been appointed Commissioner for the Environment and Animal Protection;
— Irini Poyiadzi has been appointed Commissioner for Citizens’ Affairs;
— Panayiotis Palates has been appointed Director of the President’s Office.

The swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed officials will take place on Thursday at the Presidential Palace.
