Cyprus launches app for Athalassa and Academia forest parks

Cyprus’s Department of Forests has released a free mobile app for two national forest parks in Nicosia — Athalassa and Academia. The app is called Athalassa-Academia Parks, works on iOS and Android, and is available in Greek and English.

The app contains information on each park separately: its history, a description of the natural environment, interactive maps, and a list of services and points of interest. A separate section is dedicated to the rules of conduct in the parks, including what visitors are allowed and not allowed to do.

There is also an emergency section with the phone numbers 1407 and 112, as well as the contact details of the Department of Forests itself. In addition, the app includes quizzes on visitors’ knowledge of the parks.

The department explains that the app is intended to improve visitors’ access to information about the parks, their infrastructure, services and attractions, and to support the “safe, responsible and enjoyable” use of both areas.
