Industrial production in Cyprus rose by 4.7% in March 2026
Cyprus’s industrial sector posted moderate growth in March 2026. According to data from the Statistical Service, the industrial production index reached 116.7 points (base year 2021 = 100), which is 4.7% higher than in March 2025.
The largest contributions to growth came from energy and certain manufacturing industries. The electricity generation sector recorded a sharp increase of 19.0%, while output also rose in mining and quarrying (+9.2%) and in water supply and waste management (+3.9%).
Manufacturing also showed positive momentum, increasing by 2.8% year on year. Among the key growth areas were the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (+8.5%), rubber and plastic products (+7.1%), other non-metallic mineral products (+4.5%), as well as food and tobacco products (+3.5%).
At the same time, declines were recorded in several sectors. The production of machinery and equipment, motor vehicles and other transport equipment fell by 4.8%, while furniture manufacturing, repair and installation of equipment declined by 3.9%.
Overall, industrial production in Cyprus rose by 1.5% in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the same period last year, pointing to a gradual but steady recovery in the sector.
