Drunk driver hits 16-year-old on an electric scooter in Nicosia
A 16-year-old teenager is in critical condition after a serious traffic accident that occurred at around 2:00 a.m. in the Aglantzia area of Nicosia.
According to police, a car travelling along Griva Digeni Avenue towards Larnaca Avenue, for reasons not yet established, collided with an electric scooter travelling ahead, which was being ridden by the teenager.
The injured teenager was taken to Nicosia General Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He is currently in intensive care in critical condition.
The car was found shortly after the accident at another location. Police arrested the alleged 27-year-old driver. A test showed that the alcohol level in his breath was 73 mg per 100 ml, compared with the legal limit of 22 mg.
The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by Nicosia traffic police.
