Flights to the Middle East: Cyprus Airways has resumed flights
International airlines are slowly bringing back flights to the Middle East after the February events, but most restrictions will remain in place until autumn. Passengers in Cyprus are in a better position than residents of the rest of Europe.
Key updates from airline schedules:
• Cyprus Airways: since May 1, it has resumed flights from Larnaca to Dubai (3 times a week) and has signed an agreement with flydubai for convenient connections to Asia and Africa.
• Aegean Airlines: has canceled flights to Tel Aviv until June 26, to Dubai until August 31, and to Erbil and Baghdad until September 30.
• AirBaltic and Air Canada: have suspended flights to Dubai (and Air Canada also to Tel Aviv) until October 24.
• British Airways, Lufthansa, SWISS, ITA Airways: will resume flights to Dubai, Tel Aviv and other cities in the region no earlier than mid-September and as late as the end of October. Finnair will return to the Dubai route only in the winter season.
Passengers are advised to check flight status, as schedules change regularly. Direct flights from Larnaca to the Gulf countries currently remain the most reliable option.
