Russian Programmer Stole $3 Million from IT Company and Bought a Penthouse in Cyprus

A high-profile case is under investigation in Moscow involving the theft of a large sum from the IT sector. A former employee of the Moscow-based company Zunami, engaged in cryptocurrency and blockchain projects, stole approximately $3 million and left Russia.
The programmer had access to corporate crypto wallets and gradually withdrew the company's funds in three tranches. First, $260,000 disappeared from the accounts, then over $2.1 million was deducted, and later another $500,000. The loss went unnoticed until the organization ceased operations. Only after the company closed did investigators focus on the programmer as the main suspect.
The investigation revealed that the stolen funds were used for luxury purchases. He bought several high-end cars, including a Ferrari and an Audi RS Q8, and acquired real estate — a penthouse in Cyprus.
After that, the man left Russia and now resides between Dubai and Cyprus, maintaining an active social life and appearing among local bloggers. He completely denies any guilt and insists he was not involved in the thefts.
Experts note that such cases are complicated by the transnational nature of the crimes: the money was moved through cryptocurrency platforms, and the suspect is outside Russia. The question of his possible extradition to Russia remains open.
The incident caused widespread public resonance. It became another example of the vulnerability of cryptocurrency assets in corporate governance and raised questions about employee access control to financial systems.
