Retail trade in Cyprus grew by 5% year on year
Retail trade in Cyprus increased by 5.0% in June 2026 compared with June 2025, according to Eurostat data. At the same time, the figure decreased by 1.0% compared with May 2026. In the euro area, retail trade decreased by 0.3% over the month, while in the European Union it fell by 0.1%. In Cyprus, the indicator’s dynamics changed throughout 2026: a decrease of 1.2% was recorded in January, followed by growth of 0.7% in February, 0.6% in March, a decrease of 0.9% in April, growth of 3.7% in May, and a decrease of 1.0% in June.
Year on year, retail trade in Cyprus increased by 8.9% in January, 5.0% in February, 6.1% in March, 2.7% in April, 8.4% in May and 5.0% in June. Across the EU, retail trade grew by 1.2% in June 2026 compared with the same month last year, while in the euro area it increased by 0.7%.
The highest annual growth rates among EU countries were recorded in Luxembourg at 8.3%, Sweden at 7.2% and Bulgaria at 7.1%.
