Limassol startup reveals the mystery behind the enigmatic notes on the city’s streets
The Limassol-based tech startup admitted that the handwritten notes on yellow sticky notes that appeared en masse in public places across the city in April 2026 were part of its advertising campaign. The notes contained nothing more than an invitation to install the new app, but the lack of logos and contact details left residents wondering for a long time who was behind them, while photos of the notes were widely shared on social media. The developers explained that they used guerrilla marketing to create the effect of a personal, neighborly message that reflects the essence of the service itself.
The launched platform is a geolocation messenger that ties chats to specific locations: homes, streets, neighborhoods, or shopping centers. Users are automatically connected to a conversation when they enter a designated area on the map and lose access to it or switch to read-only mode when they leave it. The service is designed to coordinate activity within local communities — from finding missing pets to sharing neighborhood news. At the same time, the creators emphasize that the app uses geolocation solely to match users with available chats and does not reveal users’ exact location to other participants.
