Trial of Paphos mayor in rape case to be held behind closed doors
The Paphos Permanent Criminal Court has ruled that hearings in the case of suspended Paphos Mayor Phedonas Phedonos, accused of the alleged rape of a woman, which investigators believe took place several years ago, will be held behind closed doors.
The decision was taken to protect the complainant.
The court previously heard the positions of both sides. Phedonas Phedonos pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against him, including rape and rendering the alleged victim helpless through the use of intoxicating substances.
The hearings will take place over four days.
