Tourist arrivals to Cyprus fell by 1.7% in June

In June 2026, the Republic of Cyprus welcomed 489,965 tourists, which was 1.7% fewer than in the same month last year (498,527 people). At the same time, the rate of decline slowed noticeably compared with the sharper downturn observed in spring.

From the beginning of the year through June, 1,656,015 tourists arrived on the island — 10.1% fewer than during the same period in 2025.

The largest tourism market remains the United Kingdom — 161,913 tourists (33% of all arrivals). It is followed by Israel (80,343 people, 16.4%), Poland (35,871, 7.3%), Sweden (26,884, 5.5%) and Germany (21,587, 4.4%).

Most visitors — 81.6% — came for holidays. Another 11.3% visited relatives and friends, while 7% arrived for business purposes. The share of business trips increased over the year, partially offsetting the decline in tourism demand.

According to the Statistical Service, residents of the Republic of Cyprus, by contrast, travelled abroad more frequently. In June, 168,953 people returned from trips abroad, which was 7.4% more than a year earlier. Greece remains the most popular destination.
