Stole a car, crashed it and died: police investigate the death of a 29-year-old man in Nicosia
Nicosia police are investigating the circumstances of the death of 29-year-old Syrian national Karam Labbad. The man died in hospital a few hours after he stole a car and crashed it into a concrete barrier.
Chronology of events:
- At around 3:15 p.m., police were informed about the theft of a car from the grounds of a private house.
- Fifteen minutes later, the stolen car crashed into a concrete barrier on Evagoru Avenue. The driver fled the scene of the accident.
- At 3:30 p.m., police found the suspect in one of the city’s districts. He needed medical assistance and was taken to Nicosia General Hospital.
Cause of death:
Initially, doctors did not find any external injuries on the man. However, his condition later deteriorated sharply: he developed shock and respiratory failure. The patient was transferred to intensive care, where he died at around 3:00 a.m. The deceased’s relatives have already been notified of the incident.
