Improved Water Supply Situation in Paphos District
The water supply situation in Paphos District has improved significantly this year compared with last year. According to the chairman of the Paphos District Self-Government Organization (EOA), Charalambos Pittokopitis, the positive changes are linked to increased water production volumes at key infrastructure facilities.
In particular, the permanent desalination plant in Kouklia increased production from 15,000 to 20,000 cubic meters of water per day. The mobile desalination units in Potima (Kissonerga) reached full capacity, providing an additional 12,000 cubic meters of water per day. In addition, the output of the water treatment plant at the Asprokremmos reservoir was increased from 32,000 to 42,000 cubic meters per day. At the government level, a political decision has also been taken to build a new desalination plant in the Chrysochou Bay area to ensure the region’s long-term water supply.
