A wall of an apartment building collapsed during construction work in Agios Dometios

An incident occurred on the morning of 24 July in the Agios Dometios area of Nicosia during excavation work for the construction of a new apartment building.

During excavation at a site on Pentadaktylou Street, the boundary wall of a neighbouring apartment building collapsed.

Representatives of the Nicosia District Local Government Organisation (EOA) arrived at the scene immediately after the incident. The organisation’s engineers contacted specialists from both the building under construction and the damaged building.

An inspection is currently being carried out to determine whether all necessary safety measures were followed during the work and to assess the stability of the damaged building.
