World Wetlands Day Marked In Akrotiri With An Educational Festival

World Wetlands Day was celebrated at the Akrotiri Environmental Education Centre with an open educational program for families.
The event took place with the participation of specialists from the Centre, the Environmental Education Unit of the Republic of Cyprus, and the Health Services of the British Bases.
Visitors collected aquatic invertebrates and examined them under microscopes, observed insects and plants through telescopes, explored interactive dioramas, and created carnival masks inspired by the ecosystem of the Akrotiri Peninsula.
The organizers emphasized the importance of wetland conservation and environmental education. The Centre welcomes more than 10,000 visitors annually and continues to run educational programs for the general public.
