Unusual summer weather reaches Cyprus in August: rain, wind and hail

Unseasonal August weather has settled over Cyprus: heavy rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds have affected different parts of the island. Residents are posting videos of thunderstorms that passed over towns and villages. Due to the heavy rainfall, police urged drivers to exercise caution on motorways. According to the Meteorological Department, showers and thunderstorms are expected in places during the day as cloud development continues, mainly in mountainous and central areas, as well as in the east of the island.

Hail is possible during thunderstorms.

According to forecasts, the unsettled weather will continue at least until Wednesday.
