Another suspect detained in Cyprus Cup final explosives case
Cyprus police have detained another person as part of the investigation into the storage and transportation of explosive materials during the Cyprus Cup final match at GSP Stadium in Nicosia.
According to law enforcement authorities, the detained person is a 29-year-old man. The arrest was made on the basis of a court warrant, after which the suspect was placed in custody to assist the investigation.
He is expected to appear before the Nicosia court today, where police will request a remand order for his pretrial detention.
The investigation is ongoing. Investigators are establishing all the circumstances of the case, and are also checking the possible involvement of other people in the storage and transportation of explosive materials during one of the country’s largest sporting events.
Law enforcement authorities are not yet disclosing additional details, stressing that work on the case continues in the interests of the investigation.
