Rain and thunderstorms hit the mountains of Cyprus in August

While temperatures in some parts of central Cyprus are rising to very high levels, dense cloud cover, rain and thunderstorms have been observed in the mountainous areas. Videos posted in the Cyprus Weather Enthusiasts group on Facebook show an unusual scene for August: sunny weather in the mountains was replaced by dense clouds and rain.

The contrast between the weather in different parts of the island was particularly striking — conditions in the mountains were more reminiscent of autumn than mid-August.
