In Larnaca, the deliberate murder of a 22-year-old foreign national over money has been uncovered
The Larnaca Police have uncovered the case of the kidnapping and deliberate murder of 22-year-old Shahruara Ahmed Emon, who went missing on 12 June 2026 after leaving for a new job. On Sunday morning, based on analysis of mobile communications data and gathered evidence, police arrested a 22-year-old foreign national. During questioning, the suspect fully confessed to the crime, saying he acted alone and that financial disagreements were the motive behind the offense.
The detainee indicated to investigators a location in the Larnaca district where he had buried the body of the victim. Forensic specialists and crime scene investigators who arrived at the site found the man's remains in a highly decomposed state. Final identification will be carried out through DNA testing, although police are confident that this is the missing Emon, who is believed to have died on the night he disappeared. Near the burial site, a knife was found which, according to the suspect's confession, was the murder weapon, as well as the victim's personal belongings. On Monday, the detainee will be brought before the court for a decision on remand in custody.
