Traffic pattern on Chrisi and Argyroupoleos streets has changed in Larnaca
Larnaca municipal authorities, together with the traffic department, have officially announced the introduction of a new permanent traffic scheme on the busy streets of Chrisi and Argyroupoleos. The main goal of the large-scale reorganization of the road network was to streamline traffic, reduce accident rates at difficult intersections, and optimize routes leading toward the local auto track. According to the newly approved concept, the specified road sections have been converted to one-way traffic, which fundamentally changes the usual driving pattern for local residents and visitors to the city.
As part of the implementation of the changes, the city’s engineering services have already completed the installation of new road signs, barriers, and updated the horizontal markings to help drivers adapt more quickly to the new conditions. Traffic flows heading to the auto track and adjacent commercial facilities are now redirected along clearly regulated parallel streets, which makes it possible to eliminate head-on collisions and traffic jams when turning right. The Larnaca municipal police have deployed additional patrols at key junctions to monitor the situation and provide verbal guidance to motorists in the first days of the reform.
The municipality strongly urges all road users to exercise heightened attention when driving along Chrisi and Argyroupoleos streets, to strictly follow the guidance of the new signs, and not to continue along old routes out of habit in order to avoid creating hazardous situations. The authorities stress that these measures were adopted on the basis of long-term monitoring of traffic density and are aimed solely at improving overall safety in the residential and industrial sectors. Full graphic diagrams of the updated routes and alternative access roads to the auto track are available for review on the city’s official digital portal.
