€300,000 to be allocated in Larnaca for flood protection project

The Local Government Organisation of Larnaca District has announced a tender worth €300,000 plus VAT for the development of a flood protection project. The works must cover the areas of Kalo Chorio and Aradippou, where existing infrastructure needs to be improved and flooding prevented.

As part of the contract, specialists will study water movement in the area and develop a drainage system for collecting and diverting rainwater. The contractor must also prepare the technical and environmental documentation required for the subsequent construction of protective structures. The contract is financed from public funds and is set to run for 12 months from the date of signing.

The need for the project is linked to repeated flooding incidents in the Larnaca area, particularly near the Kamares Aqueduct. Once the study is completed, the authorities plan to obtain a comprehensive project design that will allow them to proceed directly to the construction of the flood protection system.
