Beggar Arrested in Limassol for Demanding Money from Passersby: Compulsory Treatment Ordered
A well-known beggar in Limassol was arrested after persistently demanding money from passersby. The court ordered him to undergo compulsory treatment.
The 51-year-old man was detained in the city center following numerous complaints from pedestrians and drivers. According to witnesses, he regularly approached people on busy streets and at traffic lights, demanding €5. In some cases, his behavior became aggressive, causing concern among residents.
After his arrest, the man was examined by a psychiatrist, who concluded that mandatory hospitalization was necessary. The court accepted the doctors’ findings and ordered him to undergo treatment.
The measure is expected to help stabilize the man’s condition and ease the tension caused by his actions in public places in Limassol.
