Stolen motorcycle set on fire in Nicosia to destroy evidence
In Nicosia, law enforcement and the fire service are investigating an incident involving the deliberate arson of a two-wheeled vehicle. A report about a motorcycle parked in an open area and caught fire was received by the duty office at night. The fire crew that arrived at the scene quickly extinguished the blaze, but the vehicle suffered critical damage and was completely burned out.
During an inspection of the identification numbers, police officers established that the motorcycle had been reported stolen, and the owner’s complaint had been filed at one of the capital’s police stations shortly before the incident. The main line of inquiry at this stage is intentional arson aimed at destroying any biological traces, fingerprints and other material evidence that could link the perpetrators to the theft or to the commission of other offenses. Forensic laboratory experts continue to work at the site where the vehicle was found.
