Wildfire breaks out in Paphos District: Forest Department teams deployed
A fire was reported in open countryside in Paphos District on Tuesday morning, 2 June. According to official data from the Department of Forests, the alert about the fire in the area of the community of Fyti (in the Kakovounaros area) was received by the emergency services at 09:05.
Fire Service crews and specialized teams from the Forest Department were promptly involved in extinguishing the fire. Due to the difficult terrain, firefighting efforts are being hampered; however, firefighters are taking all measures to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby forest areas and agricultural land. Information on the size of the fire and the cause of the incident is still being clarified.
