Dozens of fines issued in Paphos for illegal use of e-scooters
Paphos Police conducted a special inspection along the city’s seafront due to violations of the rules governing the use of personal mobility devices, including e-scooters.
During the operation, traffic police officers fined 20 people for various violations of the law. Three more users were fined for riding e-scooters in the pedestrian zone near the port, where their use is prohibited. In these cases, the vehicles were confiscated.
Police said that inspections would continue. The authorities intend to step up monitoring of compliance with the rules both among e-scooter users and among companies renting them out without the necessary permits.
A total of 132 violations related to the use of personal mobility devices have been recorded in the Paphos district since the beginning of 2026.
Under the rules, e-scooters may only be used on roads with a speed limit of up to 30 km/h, cycle paths and specially designated public spaces. Their use in squares and pedestrian streets is prohibited, except where such areas have been officially authorised for traffic.
