In Paphos, a lifeguard managed to pull a man who had begun drowning from the sea

A swimmer found himself in a dangerous situation while bathing in the Chloraka area of Paphos due to strong winds and waves.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning. According to police, the rough sea put the man at risk of drowning. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre was called to the scene, and a police helicopter was also prepared for takeoff.

However, assistance was not needed — a lifeguard spotted the swimmer, pulled him from the water and brought him ashore.

An ambulance arrived at the scene. The man’s condition is assessed as stable, and there are no concerns for his life.
