Elderly Foreign Tourist Rescued in Avakas Gorge, Cyprus
An elderly foreign tourist was rescued in Avakas Gorge, Cyprus, after losing his balance and falling onto rocks in a crevice.
According to Michael Nicolaou, Assistant Director of Operations at Paphos Police, the incident occurred yesterday at 14:15. Peyia Police Station received information from a foreign tourist that his companion had fallen on rocks and was unable to move during a walk in Avakas Gorge.
Police officers from Peyia, firefighters, and emergency rescue services promptly responded to the scene. The 69-year-old victim was found four kilometers away from the initial location.
He was safely transferred to an ambulance and taken to Paphos Hospital. Attending doctors diagnosed him with a laceration on his right knee. After receiving initial treatment, the man was successfully discharged from the hospital.
