The Municipality of Nicosia presents a unique audiovisual show that combines history, culture and modern technology. The city’s historic Venetian Walls — namely the Davila bastion — will be transformed into a large-scale canvas for light and images.
The innovative three-dimensional projection (3D Projection Mapping) was first presented in Cyprus as part of the event “Nicosia and the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.” It offers viewers an impressive 17-minute journey through the key milestones in the capital’s history.
Thanks to advanced digital technologies, the semi-circular section of the walls quite literally “comes to life” through color, music and storytelling, highlighting Nicosia’s cultural heritage, its historical path and its connection with European identity.
During the presentation, Minister of the Interior Constantinos Ioannou noted the important role of the capital during Cyprus’ presidency of the Council of the EU, when the city remained the center of important European processes for several months. Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos also emphasized that the capital remains committed to the vision of a united, democratic and sustainable Europe.
The main event of the evening was the film itself, which uses modern digital technologies to tell the story of Nicosia in an accessible and spectacular way for both adults and children.
