Cyprus veterinarians complain about illegal trade in animal medicines

The Pancyprian Veterinary Association has reported a sharp increase in the shadow market and the illegal import of medicinal products for animals. Veterinarians are sounding the alarm, as the uncontrolled sale of medicines online and through uncertified outlets threatens the health of pets and undermines the official sector.
The main problem lies in the spread of low-quality counterfeit products and violations of the rules for dispensing prescription medicines, including antibiotics. The association has called on the relevant ministries and the Cyprus police to tighten border controls, introduce strict checks on online platforms, and hold accountable those engaged in unlicensed trade.
