Cancer survival rates in Cyprus found to be above the EU average

Survival rates for patients with the main types of cancer in Cyprus exceed the average figures for the European Union. The relevant statistical data were presented at a press conference held by the biopharmaceutical company Bristol Myers Squibb with the participation of specialists from the German Oncology Center in Limassol.
According to the published data, local medicine demonstrates high effectiveness in the treatment of prostate, breast, colon and lung cancer. In all of these areas, treatment success rates on the island consistently outpace the Europe-wide benchmarks.
Oncologists attribute this positive trend to the rapid response of the local healthcare system at the diagnostic stage and the effectiveness of modern methods. Experts place particular emphasis on the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, as well as the use of immunotherapy and targeted treatment, which make it possible to select individualized strategies for each patient.
