27 drunk drivers and one under the influence of drugs caught overnight in Cyprus
The Police of the Republic of Cyprus carried out large-scale overnight raids across the island aimed at preventing crime and ensuring public order. During the operations, 11 people were arrested on various charges, including illegal stay in the country, possession of prohibited items, being heavily intoxicated, and causing bodily harm.
Overnight, police officers stopped 768 vehicles, checked 987 drivers and passengers, and also carried out inspections at 54 establishments. As a result of the checks, 5 administrative reports were drawn up.
During road operations, police identified 368 traffic violations, 97 of which were speeding.
In addition, 229 alcohol tests were carried out: 27 drivers were found to be behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol. Another four people were tested for drugs, and one of them tested positive.
