Yellow heat warning: temperatures of up to 40 degrees in central Cyprus

Cyprus’s Meteorological Service has issued a yellow warning for Sunday due to extremely high temperatures. In the central areas of the island, the air may heat up to around 40 degrees.

The warning will be in effect from 13:00 to 16:00. Overall, predominantly clear weather is expected. Winds will be southwesterly and northwesterly, light to moderate, occasionally strengthening to strong.

During the day, temperatures will reach around 40 degrees in the central areas, around 32 degrees on the southwest and west coasts, around 36 degrees on the remaining coasts and around 30 degrees in the mountainous areas.

On Monday night, predominantly clear weather is expected, with increased cloudiness possible in some areas. Temperatures will fall to 21 degrees in the central areas, around 23 degrees on the coast and 19 degrees in the mountains.

No significant temperature changes are expected from Monday to Wednesday. Temperatures will remain slightly above the climatic average. Temporary cloudiness is possible in the mountains during the day, while isolated brief showers are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday.
