Woman who ran naked around Limassol turned out to be a tourist from Russia

A 39-year-old citizen of the Russian Federation who arrived in Cyprus on a tourist visa is in the intensive care unit of Limassol General Hospital. The patient has been placed in a medically induced coma (sedation) and is connected to a mechanical ventilator (MV). Doctors assess her current condition as stable.

Chronology of the incident and police actions:
The events unfolded on 24 June 2026 in Limassol. According to official law enforcement reports, police recorded a series of inappropriate actions by the foreign woman:
— Car theft and accident. Before going out onto the street, the woman unlawfully got into someone else’s car and caused a minor traffic accident in it.
— Incident on the street. Around 16:00, the duty desk received a report that a completely naked woman was running in panic along Stratigou Timaya Street.
— Detention. The patrol that arrived found the tourist in a state of extreme psychomotor agitation and hyperactivity. When police officers attempted to restrain and hold her, the woman fell to the ground, after which she began having pronounced convulsions. A strong smell of alcohol was coming from the victim. An ambulance crew was urgently called to the scene.

Medical diagnosis and test results:
The victim was urgently taken to Limassol General Hospital, where, after initial resuscitation measures, she was transferred to the intensive care ward. During a comprehensive examination, doctors diagnosed:
— Injuries. The patient was found to have closed fractures of the ribs on the right side, sustained during the fall.
— Toxicological status. Results of an expanded blood toxicology analysis tested positive for fentanyl, as well as a number of other potent opioids. The clinical picture was caused by the simultaneous use of alcohol and dangerous opioid substances.

According to a preliminary document check, the Russian woman entered the territory of the Republic of Cyprus on 2 June and planned to end her holiday on the island in early July. Police continue to clarify the circumstances and the channels through which the prohibited medications were obtained.
