Athienou residents protest against construction of new cemetery
Athienou residents have protested against the planned construction of a new cemetery in the town area.
According to local residents, the chosen site is a cause for serious concern. They believe the project could impact the environment and create problems for nearby areas.
Protesters also claim the decision was made without sufficient discussion with the local community. They are demanding that the authorities reconsider the plans and look into alternative locations for the cemetery.
Municipal authorities, in turn, note that the project is considered a necessary measure to address the shortage of burial spaces in the region.
