Cyprus resident reports priest extorted large sum of money
In Limassol, a woman filed a police report against a priest, accusing him of fraud. According to her, he persuaded her to hand over a large sum of money and property under the pretext of severe financial hardship.
The complainant stated that the total amount was around €150,000. Additionally, she reportedly transferred a high-value apartment to a relative of the clergyman.
The case is being investigated by the Limassol Criminal Police Unit (ΤΑΕ). No official arrests have been made so far; the investigation focuses on collecting evidence and witness statements.

The Limassol Metropolis has been notified and, according to available information, is also reviewing the situation within its ecclesiastical authority.
