All-Cyprus exam results to be announced by July 24: what you need to know
On Friday, June 26, 2026, the All-Cyprus Entrance Examinations session officially concluded. Head of the Examinations Service Socrates Milonas said that the publication of the final results and the simultaneous allocation of state-funded places at Cyprus’s public higher education institutions are scheduled for no later than July 24.
Timelines for processing results and allocating places:
— Domestic universities. Traditionally, about one month is allotted for checking the examination papers. The first stages of verification have already begun, but the final scoring and ranking of applicants will take place at the very end of the process — closer to July 24.
— Universities in Greece. The procedure for submitting applications for place allocation in Greek universities for Cypriot applicants will begin a few days after the announcement of the main results. The exact dates of the admissions process will be published by the Cyprus Ministry of Education in a separate notice.
Results of the examination session:
According to the relevant authority, the 2026 session passed normally, without critical failures or violations:
— Statistics by subject. The final test of the session was the mathematics exam, which was taken by just over 2,000 people. Traditionally, the most popular exam was the first one — in Greek language, taken by 5,139 candidates.
— Disciplinary control. During the session, one incident was recorded involving suspected use of cheat sheets or copying. An internal review did not confirm any violation, and as a result the candidate’s paper was allowed to proceed to checking on general terms.
— Difficulty of the questions. There were isolated appeals and complaints from applicants about the excessive difficulty of the questions — mainly in advanced mathematics, but these complaints were not widespread.
Specifics of the examination system in Cyprus:
Socrates Milonas separately explained the rationale behind the current separation of school-leaving and university entrance examinations:
— Purpose of ranking. Entrance examinations are not aimed at recording a basic level of knowledge, but at strictly differentiating candidates for the allocation of limited places at the island’s leading universities, such as the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK).
— Difficulty as a selection tool. The existing model makes it possible to legitimately make exam tests more difficult. This helps effectively distribute applicants in the upper part of the ranking scale and filter out the most prepared candidates for free higher education.
